Moore, Clarence Russell
Clarence Russell "Russ" Moore, age 81, of Knoxville, Illinois died peacefully at 3:30 A.M. on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at his home in Knoxville, Illinois.

He was born on January 20, 1932 in Galesburg, Illinois the son of Clarence "Pop" and Anna Veronica Morrissey Moore. He attended and graduated from Corpus Christi Catholic High School in Galesburg, Illinois. He attended Quincy College in Quincy, Illinois and graduated from Bradley University in 1956 with a Mechanical Engineering Degree. He married Marilyn Reynolds on Feb. 2, 1957 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Galesburg, Illinois.

His wife Marilyn of Knoxville survives. Surviving are his children: Chris (Laurie) Moore of North Liberty, Iowa; Luann Moore of Reston, Virginia; Jim (Rhonda) Moore of University Park, Florida; Brenda Moore of Bradenton, Florida; Janet (Bob) Dydo of Bradenton, Florida; and Mike (Beth Jett) Moore of Lafayette, Colorado. Grandchildren: Michelle Moore, Megan Moore, Abbie Moore, Brett (Summer) Hayes, Curran Jett-Moore, and Charlotte Jett-Moore. Two Great-Grandchildren: Makaiha Moore and Mathew Hayes. One sister: Cathryn Bradbury of Peoria, Illinois and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Margaret Ann Whitworth.

He was employed as a Plant Engineer at the former Butler Manufacturing of Galesburg, Illinois, then Warner Brake and Clutch of South Beloit, Illinois, followed by Milprint Inc. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He and his family returned to Knoxville, Illinois in 1973, where he purchased Carlson Services and changed the name to Moore Family Ace Hardware. In 1980 he purchased the Shell Station and named it Moore's Service, and finally in 1983 purchased the Moore Ace Hardware in Abingdon, Illinois. Russ retired in 1997.

He served on the Knoxville Planning Commission and he is a life member of the Harry Philblad American Legion Post #749 of Knoxville, Illinois. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM with a Rosary at 4:00 PM at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes in Knoxville, Illinois. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Galesburg, Illinois. Father William Miller, I.C. will officiate. Interment will be in the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Harbor Lights Hospice or Corpus Christi Church.
