|Odeeda D. Bailey, 80, of Galesburg, died at 12:12 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2013 at Marigold Health Care Center.
Odeeda was born May 13, 1932 in North Bend, Neb., the daughter of Charlie and Marie Harnish Connlery. She married Freddy D. Bailey on July 20, 1951 in Schuyler, Neb. He survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Michele (and Fritz) Archer, of Galesburg, and Paula (and Craig) Meverden, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; two sons, Ted (and Chris) Bailey and Charlie (and Sherri) Bailey, both of Galesburg. There are seven surviving grandchildren; a close family friend, Sarah Holman; and a brother, Robert (and Sandra) Connlery of Fremont, Neb.
Odeeda was raised in North Bend, Neb. and graduated from North Bend High School in 1950. She moved to Galesburg in 1958 and worked as a housekeeper both independently and with Western Illinois Home Health Care. She would help them in any way she could including running errands. She retired in 2006.
Odeeda was a woman of varied interests, including sewing, gardening, playing the accordion, wall papering and was even know to build a brick wall. She enjoyed helping others and kept the family together with great family dinners.
Odeeda was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and active in numerous church activities including teaching Sunday school for many years.
She will be missed greatly, but never forgotten.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2013 at Bethel Baptist Church. Christine Bailey will officiate with Rev. Kirk Kendall assisting. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church. Cremation will be accorded.
