|Walter F. DeCrane, age 88 of Abingdon, Illinois formerly of Woodhull, Illinois died at 12:20 A.M. on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Care Center of Abingdon, Abingdon, Illinois.
He was born on May 21, 1925 in Mineral, Illinois the son of Alfonse and Ella VanAutreve DeCrane. He was raised and educated in Sherrard, Illinois. He married H. Lorraine Throop on December 31, 1948 in Rock Island, Illinois. She preceded him in death on October 13, 2011.
Surviving is his son: Dennis (Debra) DeCrane of Abingdon, Illinois; Four grandchildren and six great grandchildren; three brothers: Donald DeCrane of East Moline, Illinois, David (Judy) DeCrane of Galena, Illinois, and Duane (Carla) DeCrane of Hampton, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Rhonda DeCrane of Galesburg, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a son, Gary.
He worked for John Deere in Moline, Illinois, then Barton's Body Shop in Alpha, Illinois, then owned and operated his own auto restoration shop, Antique Ford Garage. He was a member of several antique auto clubs and St. John's Catholic Church in Woodhull, Illinois. He was a WWII veteran in the army.
Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 26 at the United Methodist Church in Abingdon, Illinois. Rev. Jeffrey Robbins officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Abingdon, Illinois. A fellowship will follow at the church following the services at the Church. Inurnment will be held at the Woodhull Cemetery at a later date.
