|Harold L Carnes, age 81, of Monmouth, passed away at 9:45 p.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth.
Harold was born August 17, 1931 in Monmouth the son of William and Freda (Value) Carnes. He was raised and educated in Monmouth.
Harold served with the United States Army during the Korean War.
Harold married Dorothy English on June 21, 1954 in Monmouth and she passed away July 21, 2012.
Harold worked at Gaskillís Gas Station, with Mr. Gosney, constructing grain bins and later for Kistler Construction before retiring. After retiring Harold and Dorothy both worked for Dana Mecum Auctions. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed snowmobiling. He was a family man who loved family gatherings and dancing with his wife, Dorothy.
Survivors include her son, Chris Carnes of Monmouth; 4 grandchildren, great grandson, Nolan Carnes; brothers, Ralph Carnes of Monmouth and Rich Carnes of Yorkville, IL; sister, Darlene Bass of North Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson, Jason Carnes; brothers, Bill Carnes and Leroy Carnes; sister, Pearl Carnes.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013 at the Immanuel Baptist Church, Monmouth with Rev. Todd Dahlgren officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Monmouth Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday at the church where his family will be present one hour prior to the services. Memorials may be given to the Immanuel Baptist Church or the Monmouth VFW Post #2301.
