|Clifford D. Chambers, 79, of Galesburg, passed away at 12:36 PM, Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, IL.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 15 at Bishop Hill Cemetery. Rev. Martin Gutzmer will officiate. Military rites will be accorded by the Galva Fusiliers. Memorials may be directed to the Guardian Angels, P.O. Box 94, Galesburg, IL 61402. Rux Funeral Home in Galva is in charge of arrangements.
He was born January 16, 1934 in Bushnell, the son of Floyd and Anna Chambers. He married Helen Dollarhide and she preceded him in death and he later married Jane McCormick. He then married Marianne Chambers on October 1, 1989 in Galesburg and she preceded him in death on December 20, 2012. Survivors include children, Christina (Jim) Hodierne, Clifton Chambers, Randy Chambers, Cort (Roganne) Chambers and Susan (John Peter) Creighton, his siblings, Wayne (Freida) Chambers and Richard (Bertie) Chambers, both of Bushnell, Marie Howard of Avon and Dorothy Chenowith of Bushnell, grandchildren, Nathan, Matthew, Jeremy, Becky, Joshua and Heather and his beloved dog, Sweetpea. He was also preceded in death by his brother, David Chambers.
Clifford graduated from Bushnell High School in 1952. He served his country in the Air Force from 1954-56 and received the National Defense Medal and Parachutist Badge. He worked at a drycleaners and at a roller rink and at Maytag until 1973 when he went to work at Butlers until his retirement in 1999. He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling, especially to Branson.
