|Kenneth H. Hansen, 82, of Galesburg, Ill. died at 4:45 a.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Marigold Health Care Center.
He was born June 28, 1930 in Luck, Wis. the son of Herman and Dagny Pedersen Hansen. He married F. Marie Johnson June 28, 1952 in Frederic, Wis. She preceded him in death January 15, 2001. He later married Rebecca A. Flanagan on May 5, 2006 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death March 20, 2013.
He is survived by a son, David (and Marcia) Hansen of Johnston, Iowa; a daughter, Shari Scarlett of Galesburg; three grandchildren; a brother, Earl (and Wanell) Hansen of Mesa, Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Sylvia Hansen of Frederic; and Rebecca’s two daughters, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roy.
Ken was a store manager for J.C. Penney for 37 years, retiring in 1990. He was raised and educated in Frederic, graduating from Frederic High School in 1948. He earned his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin in 1952. Ken had lived in Minneapolis, Minn., Milwaukee, Wis., International Falls, Minn., Ames, Iowa, Grand Rapids, Mich., and in Galesburg since 1986.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Galesburg. He volunteered at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, was a member of Soangetaha Country Club, and a former member of Kiwanis Club and Rotary Club, all in Galesburg. He served as president of the Lutheran Congregation in International Falls.
Ken served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Pamela Marolla will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Frederic. Memorials may be made to OSF St. Mary Medical Center Auxiliary or a charity of the donor's choice.
