|Katherine G. Royer, age 93, of Victoria, Illinois died at 2:09 P.M. on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, Illinois.
She was born on October 1, 1919 in Victoria, Illinois the daughter of Newton “Leo” and Esther M. Hammerlund Milroy. She attended the Victoria High School in Victoria, Illinois. She married Chester D. Royer on January 21, 1939 in Peoria, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2005.
Surviving are two daughters: Sharon (Harry) Howerter of Galesburg, Illinois and Susan (Keith) Swanson of Victoria, Illinois; one son: Gene (Jan) Royer of Gilson, Illinois; eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one great grandson.
She was a member of the Victoria United Methodist Church in Victoria, Illinois and active in the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Royal Neighbors of America and the Victoria American Legion Auxiliary. She received the Mrs. Contractor Award of the Year of the ILICA – Illinois Land Improvement Contractors Award.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes in Knoxville, Illinois, with Visitation from 10:00 A.M. until time of service. Rev. Sarah Wanck will officiate. Interment will be in the Victoria Cemetery, Victoria, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Victoria United Methodist Church or R.O.W.V.A. FFA.
