|Betty Jean Howland, 84, of Galesburg died at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
Betty was born April 14, 1929 in Galesburg, the daughter of Carl R. and Esther J. (Hoxworth) Jacobson. She married J. R. “Dick” Howland on June 1, 1947 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on September 25, 1979.
She is survived by two daughters, Judy Kay (and Norman) Clark of Galesburg and Jean A. (and Jack) Hubble of Bloomington, Ill.; five grandchildren, Marsha (and Thomas) Monson, Rebecca Lisenbee (and George Michaels), Stephanie (and Ron) McCuan, Laura (and Cory) Lee and Richard (and Amy) Hubble; three step grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and five step great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Roger Hubble.
Betty graduated from Galesburg High School in 1947 and spent her life in Galesburg as a homemaker to her family. She was also involved in the JOH Club for over 60 years, a member of the Galesburg American Legion Auxiliary Post #285 and a member of the Women of the Moose.
Betty was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Galesburg.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Friday, June 14, 2013 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Daniel Smith will officiate. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Thursday at the chapel.
