Baker, Francis Gilmer
Francis Gilmer Baker, 94, of Galesburg died at 4:30am Tuesday, July 9, 2013 in Seminary Manor Nursing Home.

He was born January 16, 1919 in Abingdon, Ill. the son of Garland and Minnie Magdalene (Baker) Baker. He married Leola E. Whitman on December 31, 1937 in Burlington, Iowa. She preceded her in death on December 31, 1996.

He is survived by his son, William F. Baker of Galesburg, his sister Margaret E. Stephens of Peoria, Ill. and four nieces. He is preceded in death by his wife, two brothers, Wayne and Gordon Baker and a sister, Kathleen Baker.

Francis worked in the Purchasing Department for Gale Products for 27 years, retiring March 1980. He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1937. He was a volunteer for FISH Organization. He was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church. He enjoyed watching football and listening to music, especially Dean Martin.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 pm Friday, July 12, 2013 in East Linwood Cemetery. Rev. Darryl McDaniel will officiate. Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 pm Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Abingdon Christian Church or charity of the donorís choice.
