|Mrs. Edith F. Greenquist, 89, of 1673 Willard St., Galesburg, Ill. died at 3:35 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
She was born on February 9, 1924 in Monmouth, Ill. She married Arthur Greenquist on November 5, 1943 in Gadsen, Ala.
Edith is survived by her husband, Arthur; two sons, Arthur “Ted” (and Linda) Greenquist of Peotone, Ill. and Steve (and Andrea) Greenquist of Ankeny, Iowa; a sister, Elizabeth (and Robert) Goad of Galesburg; five grandchildren, Joshua, Nissa, Wendy, Erik and Troy; and 10 great-grandchildren, Kirsten, Lyndsey, Anna, Joe, Cameron, Caleb, Austin, Andy, Coltin and Allyson. She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Edith worked in the cafeteria at Churchill Junior High School for 15 years. She was a 1941 graduate of Monmouth High School.
She was an active member of First Lutheran Church. She was a collector of music boxes. She was a Cub Scout leader. She loved to camp at Young’s Lake, near Monmouth, and had wintered 21 years in Florida.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2013 at the First Lutheran Church with Rev. Pamela Marolla officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
