|Arthur R. Baker, 84, of Galesburg, died at 5:47 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2012 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
He was born November 3, 1927 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Harold M. and Ann Smith Baker. He married Audrey Milroy on June 12, 1948 in Warren County, Ill.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey; three sons, Leslie (and Karen) Baker of Galesburg, Kenneth (and Ann) Baker of Galesburg, and Robert (and Sandra) Baker of Carbondale, Ill.; a daughter, Janet (and Kenneth) Canine of Cadillac, Mich.; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Josephine (and Jim) Eiker of Henderson, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Arthur worked in maintenance at Galesburg Cottage Hospital for 22 years, retiring in 1989. He had lived in Henderson as a boy and graduated from Wataga High School in 1947. He moved to Galesburg in 1950. Arthur was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.
He served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1946 in the South Pacific at the end of World War II.
Cremation will be accorded. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2012 in Henderson Cemetery. Rev. Daniel Smith will officiate. There will be no visitation.
