|Alice A. Orme 89, of Knoxville, Illinois passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 2:44 PM at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
Alice was born April 9, 1923 in Galesburg, Illinois the daughter of Earl and Ivy (White) Doubet. She was reared and educated in Williamsfield, Illinois graduating from the Williamsfield High School in 1941. During WWII Alice worked for the Defense Ordinance Plant in Dixon, Illinois. She retired from the Williamsfield Post Office after serving for over 40 years. Alice married James Russell “Slim” Orme on July 5, 1952 in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1959.
Alice is survived by her three daughters Janet Waller of Galesburg, Beverly (Robert) Carr of East Galesburg, and Sandra (Jack) Hartman of Knoxville. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Jonathan Orme, Justin Derham, Daniel (Jessica) Waller, and Brian Waller; six great-grandchildren and one brother, George Doubet of Williamsfield.
Alice is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and three brothers; Dale Doubet, Robert Doubet, and Hugh Doubet.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Williamsfield and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.
Visitation will be held at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville, Illinois on Friday, September 28, 2012 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A graveside service will be held following the visitation at the Williamsfield Cemetery, Williamsfield, Illinois at 3:00 PM. Rev. Doug Johnson will be officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to the Williamsfield Public Library and the Williamsfield United Methodist Church.
