|Keith N. Brown, 88, of Henderson, Ill. died at 5:25 a.m. Friday, September 28, 2012 in Rosewood Care Center.
He was born March 25, 1924 in Plymouth, Ill. the son of Clyde E. and Lela Hendrickson Brown. He married Norma E. Icenogle on February 11, 1944 in Chicago.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Norma; a daughter, Linda K. Ferry of Henderson; three grandchildren, Michelle L. (and Craig Genesio) McGee of Woodhull, Ill., Kevin N. (and A.J.) Ferry of Monmouth, Ill., and Brent C. (and Liz) Ferry of Austin, Texas; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Glenn Brown; and two sisters, Virginia G. Miesse and Doris Ambrose.
Keith was raised and educated in Plymouth, graduating from Plymouth High School in 1941. He also graduated from Elmer’s Radio School in Carthage, Ill.
He served in the United States Air Force for three years during World War II as a staff sergeant in telecommunications. After the war, he worked in TV and radio repair from 1945 to 1967. Keith worked as a journeyman electrician through I.B.E.W. Local 34 from 1967 until retiring in 1987.
After retiring, Keith and Norma moved to Shell Knob, Mo., where he was a charter member of F.O.E. #4155. They returned to the Galesburg area in 2006. Keith was also a member of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285 in Galesburg.
Cremation will be accorded. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2012 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2012 in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. James Ecklund officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
