|Marion June Porter, 85, of Galesburg, died at 1:50 a.m. Monday, September 9, 2013 in Seminary Manor.
She was born June 28, 1928 in Henry County, Ill. between New Windsor and Ophiem, the daughter of Henry and Hanna Burgeson Thorp.
She is survived by two sons, W. Kris (and Bobbi) Porter of Queen Creek, Ariz. and Kent Charles (and Karen) Porter of Alexis, Ill.; three daughters, Linda (and Norman) Beal of Milton, Fla., Nancy (and Gary) Sims of Alexis, and MariRae (and Randy) McBride of San Tan Valley, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a brother, Charles W. (and Martha) Thorp of Viola, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert Thorp and John Thorp; and three sisters, Marjorie Dodson, Lois Thorp, and Ruth Thorp.
Marion was raised and educated in the New Windsor area, graduating from New Windsor High School in 1946. She moved to Alexis in 1946 and Galesburg in 1992. She was a homemaker. Marion was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Alexis, but was raised in the Lutheran church.
Marion was a former member of the Delta Ace Bridge Club in Alexis. She loved to bowl, play cards, and go dancing.
Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at East Linwood Cemetery with Rev.
