|Karen Sue Lovett Burwell, 50, of Galesburg, died at 5 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2013 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born December 31, 1962 in Galesburg, the daughter of Joseph Edward and Jean Marie (Pratt) Lovett.
She is survived by two children, Jason Austin and Jena Lester, both of Galesburg; two grandchildren, Kraig Austin and Aniyah Russell, with a third grandchild expected in November; three brothers, Donald (and Karen) Lovett of Oquawka, Ronald Dale (and Margaret Jean “Bunnie”) Lovett of Columbia, S.C., and Danny Lee (and Melinda Bandle) Lovett of Galesburg; four sisters, Judy (and Ron) Plasters of Litchfield, Ill., Barbara Jo (and David) Cole of Galesburg, Rose Mary (and Donald) Hanley of Galesburg, and Elizabeth Ann Lovett of Galesburg; a dear friend, James Shaw of Galesburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Karen loved bingo and was currently the bingo caller at the American Legion. She also enjoyed going to the gambling boats. Karen was a devoted granny to her grandchildren. She attended Galesburg High School.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2013 in the Abingdon Cemetery. Rev. James Ecklund will officiate. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
