|Paul William Ulm, 83, of Galesburg passed away on October 22, 2012 at Seminary Manor Nursing home.
He was born January 7, 1929 in London Mills Ill. to William and Aura Voorhees Ulm. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Phyllis (Woods), daughter Susan and son-in-law David Haugh of Columbus Ohio along with their three children Peter, Leah and Samuel. He is also survived by his brother Bernard (Laila) Ulm of Fort Madison Iowa, sisters Marilyn Swegle of East Galesburg, and Ellamae Miyashiro of St. Petersburg, Fla. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Paul served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1952 as an electrician, and then worked as a tool and die maker for Caterpillar and Hyster in Peoria, and Komatsu in Libertyville before retiring to Galesburg in 1995. After retiring, Paul was active with Habitat for Humanity, and was able to participate in a mission trip to Jamaica. He was a faithful member of First Church of the Nazarene where he taught Sunday school, served on the board, and showed his love of God to all. Those who knew Paul will remember his big smile, kind heart, and the encouraging words that he spoke.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:30 am, Saturday October 27, 2012 at Galesburg First Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be 9:30 am Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown Ill. with Military Rites by American Legion Bishop Post #1 and Lewistown VFW Post #5001.
