|Harley E. England, age 85 of Brighton, Colorado, formerly of Galesburg, Illinois died on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at his home Brighton, Colorado.
He was born on December 13, 1926 in Persifer Twp. Knox County, Illinois. HE was reared and educated in Knox County, Illinois graduating from the Galesburg High school in 1950. He then attended and graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. He married Ardis Eaton on July 9, 1950 in Berwick, Illinois. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2008.
Surviving is a daughter: Pam (Louis) D'Andre'a of Westminster, CO and a son: Mike (Laura) England of Lake of the Ozark, MO. Four grandchildren: Christopher (Shelly) Severns, Commerce City, CO; Shawn (Lora) Severns, Federal Heights, CO; Jessica England, Kansas City, MO; and Joey England, Galesburg, Illinois. Six Great Grandchildren: Chelsea, Delaney, Harley and Shelby Severns of Federal Heights, CO, and Jaxson England of Knoxville, IL; Christopher Severns of Commerce City,CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister: Helen Vilardo.
He served in death United States Army from 1945 to 1946 as a Private 1st Class based in Ft. Dix, Arkansas, in the Payroll department.
He began working as a Butcher at Pet's Market in Galesburg, Illinois. Then he worked for Burlington Trucking as Traffic Manager in Galesburg, Illinois; BN Transport as Vice President of Traffic & Marketing in Colorado; B.F. Walker Truck lines in Colorado and finally ANR Truck lines in Colorado.
He was a member of the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285 in Galesburg, IL; the 40 & 8 Club; First United Methodist Church in Galesburg, IL; Meadwood Free Methodist Church in Aurora, CO; and Big Brothers in CO, and the Chauffer's, Teamsters and Helpers of Illinois, Local 15.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Interment will be held at the Westfall Cemetery in Rural Victoria, Illinois.
