|Lelah Pearl Skinner, age 91 of Abingdon, died at 3:10 pm Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the Rosewood Care Center of Galesburg.
She was born on January 7, 1922 in Indian Point Township, the daughter of Walter and Gertrude (Nelson) Slagel. She married Everett “Buster” Skinner on May 9, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 18, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
Lelah is survived by two sons, Bill Skinner of Galesburg and Dan (and Teresa) Skinner of RR St. Augustine; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jean Smith of Knoxville.
She graduated from London Mills High School in 1941. She was a homemaker and had also worked at the Blue Bell Factory in Abingdon. She was a member of the Knox County Home Extension, the Gideon auxiliary and a charter member of the Spoon River Antique Agriculture Association. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Abingdon.
Cremation will be accorded. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Rev. Russ Witkowski and Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial of her ashes will follow the service in the Abingdon Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
