|Donald R. Johnson, 85, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
Don was born August 10, 1928 in Burgess, Illinois, the son of Clarence and Kathryn Johnson. He married Erma Sharp on April 3, 1949 at the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg, Illinois. She survives.
Also surviving are his daughter, Diana (Randy) Mason of Thornton, Colorado; two grandchildren, Kim Indelicato(and Jennifer French) of El Segundo, California and Jennifer Indelicato of Lakewood, Colorado; and two great-grandchildren, Madeline and Katherine Indelicato-French. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Earl “Curly” Johnson.
Don worked for seventeen years at Burlington Truck Lines and was the superintendent of maintenance when he left the company. He went on to own and operate two businesses. He co-owned the Honda Motorcycle Shop and was the sole owner of Grand Motor Sales. He loved working as a mechanic on all types of bikes and cars. He loved spending time with his family and he also enjoyed working on a good crossword puzzle which he did every night.
At his request, there will be no services, but cards are welcome. Memorial donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Galesburg or the Galesburg Rescue Mission.
