It's "Patriotic Night" at Jim Sundburg Field this evening, as the American Legion Post 285 baseball team hosts Moline in a single game beginning at 6 o'clock. Galesburg enters the game with a record of 10-1, after sweeping Farmington last night 19-0 and 17-2. Seth Morling and Jake Thompson were the winning pitchers, who benefitted from plenty of run support in the games that were shortened to five innings due to the lopsided scores. Tonight's opponent figures to be a little tougher, as Moline is the defending state champion.
Cubs and Cards had a couple of day games today....and St. Louis beat the Mets 2-1.
It was a marathon 4-hour-plus Game 1 for the Stanley Cup in Chicago, and finally at midnight in the third overtime, the Blackhawks beat the Boston Bruins 4-3. Game 2 is Saturday in Chicago.
The Miami Heat look to bounce back from the thrashing in Game 3, which they lost by 36 points, as the Spurs look to keep the momentum going in tonight's Game 4 of the NBA finals in San Antonio.
