College Basketball

Knox and Monmouth will both host men's Midwest Conference basketball games tonight. Here in Galesburg, the high-scoring Grinnell Pioneers will be in town to battle coach Kevin Walden's Prairie Fire. Grinnell received national attention last week when sophomore guard Jake Taylor scored an NCAA record 138 points in a single game.
Meanwhile in Monmouth, the Fighting Scots will look for their first conference win as they host the Blueboys of Illinois College.

Girls Hoops

A few girls varsity games dot the high school basketball schedule for tonight. Those contests will be:

ROWVA at West Prairie
United at Stark County
Mercer County at Galva/Williamsfield

Moline coach resigns

In high school football news, Moline head football coach Crick Santamore has resigned. Santamore had been at the helm of the Moline program for 3 seasons, after serving 13 years as an assistant with the Maroons. Santamore cited a desire to spend more time with his family in making the decision. His teams compiled a record of 14-14 with one conference title during his tenure has the head coach.
Moline athletic director Todd Rosenthal said that Santamore's replacement is likely to come from within the program, due to budget considerations in the Moline district.
