Mt. Carmel Wins 7A Title With Shutout
DEKALB, Ill. (AP) -- Mt. Carmel's defense held Lake Zurich to 71 total yards of offense en route to a 30-0 win in Saturday's Class 7A state championship game.

Senior running back Matt Domer led the Caravan (13-1) with 153 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while senior quarterback Marko Boricich threw two touchdowns on four pass attempts.

Mt. Carmel won its 11th state title under coach Frank Lenti, who has led the Caravan to the finals in 16 of his 30 seasons.

Lake Zurich (12-2) struggled from the opening kickoff. Two first-half fumbles led to a quick 14-0 lead for Mt. Carmel.

The 21 points allowed by Lake Zurich in the first half were more than the Bears had given up in their previous four playoff games combined.
