Batavia Gets First State Title
DEKALB, Ill. (AP) -- Batavia has won its first state title in a 34-14 win over Richards in the Illinois Class 6A championship game.

Running back Anthony Scaccia rushed for 189 yards and three touchdowns Saturday and quarterback Micah Coffey threw two touchdowns.

Batavia (13-1) jumped to a 28-7 halftime lead thanks to Scaccia's two 1-yard touchdowns.

Coffey was a precise passer, including a Class 6A state record 96-yard touchdown throw to Michael Moffatt for a 14-0 lead in the final minute of the first quarter.

Richards (12-2) got on the board in the first half when quarterback Hasan Muhammad-Rogers threw a 9-yard touchdown to Dedrick Shannon. Muhammad-Rogers went 18 for 41 with 226 passing yards, a touchdown and three interceptions.

Coffey completed 15 of 18 passes for 229 yards and had one interception.
