Sacred Heart Griffin Wins 5A State Title
DEKALB, Ill. (AP) -- Junior quarterback Gabe Green rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns to help Sacred Heart-Griffin to a 38-28 win against Montini in Saturday's Illinois Class 5A state championship.

Sacred Heart-Griffin (14-0) recovered from a 21-7 first quarter deficit with a defensive effort that shut down the Broncos. The loss snapped a streak of four consecutive state titles for Montini (13-1). The Broncos scored a touchdown with 56 seconds remaining for their first points since the first quarter.

Sacred Heart-Griffin took its first lead of the game with 4:54 left in the third on Green's 17-yard touchdown to go ahead 24-21. Green added a 6-yard touchdown run less than four minutes later.

Montini quarterback Alexander Wills completed 23 of 56 passes for 316 yards with one touchdown and an interception.
