A banner day and night for the Galesburg Silver Streaks Boys Basketball team, as the Streaks defeated Peoria Notre Dame 77-58 Saturday night at the GHS Thanksgiving Tournament, behind Evan Meeker's career-high 26 points. The Streaks trailed only one time during the course of the game, and that was early. In the early game, the Streaks took care of Rantoul 82-66. Meeker also led that game with 15 points, and Devyn Ross' 14. The Streaks pick up second place in the tournament, going 4-1. Limestone, who went 5-0, was the champion.

Monmouth-Roseville is the champion of the Orion Tip-Off Classic, after defeating the host Chargers Saturday 77-32. The championship was decided based on points allowed, due to a three-way tie with Dixon and Fulton.

The Galesburg Silver Streaks Girls Basketball team got a much-needed second win of the season Saturday night, taking care of Freeport 65-57. Junior Sabrina Clay led the Silver Streaks with 22 points. The Sophomore girls also defeated Freeport, 44-32. Both games were a part of the Galesburg Girls Thanksgiving Tournament.

The Galesburg Silver Streaks took top honors at the Illini Bluffs Invitational at Glasford, Saturday, scoring 196.5 points. Canton took second, and the host Illini Bluffs team took third. For the Streaks, Christian Powers (170) & Tallen McWilliams (182) were named Champions.


Augustana won their third straight game Saturday, this one over the Knox College men's team 88-50. Marcellis Davis led Knox College with 14 points, but fell to 1-3 on the season, marking their second straight loss.

Eureka defeated the Knox College women's team Saturday, 97-76. Freshman Jamie Blue led the Prairie Fire with a season-high 17 points, while GHS grad Jessica Howard added 15. Knox is now 1-3.

Carl Sandburg College's men's team extended their winning streak to six games Saturday, defeating Clinton College 73-64. Reggie Anderson led the Chargers with 17 points. Sandburg is now 7-1.
