|DEKALB, Ill. (AP) -- The undefeated Huskies' march to Friday's Mid-American Conference championship game has been good for more than just the football program at Northern Illinois University.
It's also been a boon to area businesses, as fans snap up sweatshirts and other team merchandise.
The (DeKalb) Daily Chronicle reports that several stores are seeing a jump in sales of team apparel.
Jody Boardman is manager of the Village Commons Bookstore. She says they've been getting online orders from all over the country and even temporarily sold out of jerseys.
NIU sophomore Jeff Nelson was among those buying up shirts. He told the newspaper the team was "amazing" and that getting his Huskies gear made him feel like he's part of the action.
The No. 16 team will play Bowling Green on Friday.
