She was born November 27, 1948 in Moline, Illinois to William and Mildred Rehn Jones. She graduated as valedictorian from AlWood High School class of 1966. Marilyn graduated from the University of Illinois in 1972 with a degree in Social Welfare. She married Ronald Duncalf in 1979 and later married Roy Burklund in 1990.
Marilyn was employed as a secretary for the investigators at the Henry County Sherriff’s Department for 26 years, retiring in 2009.
She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Police and a former member of the Osco Community Church.
Marilyn lived a life of service. She loved helping people and enjoyed taking part in benefits or charities. She enjoyed music, playing the piano, bible studies and being with family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Stephanie (Austin) Hein of Littleton, CO; Rhonda Duncalf of Dayton, OH; Brandy McLam of Centerport, NY; Sarah (Chris) Stenger of Bloomington, IL; Rachel (Austin) Phelps of Port Byron, IL; William Burklund of East Moline, IL; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley (Otto) Thamasett of Springfield, VA; Barbara (Sanat) Shah of Bethel Park, PA; Kathryn (Paul) Miller of Panora, IA; two brothers, Richard (Beth) Jones of Woodbury, MN; Jean (Candace) Jones of Wilmington, N.C. one aunt: Dorothy Neuhaus of Vermillion, SD; several nieces and nephews.
Her parents preceded her in death.
