Knox County Ranked 69th Moderately Healthy County in State

Knox County SealA recent study released yesterday by the University of Wisconsin has declared that Knox County has the 69th most moderately healthy residents out of 102 counties in the state.

The study is part of a comprehensive report through the County Health Ranking and Roadmaps program that compiles data from every county in the country, in order to determine how healthy people are and how long they will live.

The rankings look at a number of aspects including health behavior, clinical care, and social and economic factors.
Knox County Board of Health Administrator Michelle Fishburn says the rankings are “a tool that shows where they county is doing well, and where it can use improvements in regards to health issues.” She says, that “the rankings help community stakeholders in education, economic development, housing, and other areas to determine how they contribute to a healthy community.”

According to the Community Health Improvement Plan in Knox County, the department lists improving nutrition, obesity, mental health, and a handful of other as priorities for improvement.
