This week is the 20th anniversary of National Public Health Week–a movement started to help educate and engage Americans in the movement to create a healthier America.”
Thats according to Knox County Health Department Administrator Michele Fishburn, who says as citizens, “we all have a role to play in making America the healthiest nation in one generation.”
Fishburn tells WGIL that spreading the word is the goal for KCHD this week.
“We just do a lot of media outreach, and a lot of education this week,” says Fishburn. ” We also like to recognize our partners in the community, which we could not do any of our fantastic work without. Looking from everybody– to the other health care providers in the community, to our schools, to the local organizations, the churches–really everybody has a hand in what we do. Individually we look to people to make some lifestyle choices differently after this week.”
Counties across the nation will celebrate with events. The week concludes April 12th.
