Lincoln Museum Celebrates 10 Years with Free Admission

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum has launched a new website, which visitors can use on a smartphone or tablet while touring the museum.

The “MyLincoln” site was introduced Sunday as the museum celebrated its 10th anniversary. Admission was free and more than 4,000 people participated in the celebration.

The new website features quizzes and information on what Lincoln was doing on any given day, for example, on a guest’s birthday.

The museum opened April 19, 2005, and has since drawn 3.7 million visitors, far more than the 2.4 million projected.

The museum’s collection of original Lincoln materials includes an original copy of the Gettysburg Address, a signed copy of the constitutional amendment ending slavery and Lincoln’s stovepipe hat.
