Forest City Queen Riverboat Has New Look in Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) — A Rock River pleasure cruiser has a new look this year.

The Rockford Register Star reports the Forest City Queen is painted blue with new awnings, decals and mechanical improvements.

Amy McIntyre is operations manager of the Forest City Queen and Trolley Car 36 for the Rockford Park District. She says the upgrade makes the boat “really stand out on the water.”

It has been cruising the river since 1979.

Public tours are offered daily except Tuesday, which is reserved for groups and private charters. The boat departs from near the ice house at Riverview Park except on Thursdays, when it launches from Nicholas Conservatory and Gardens.

Guests hear about Rockford’s history and present as the boat passes stately homes and parklands.
