Small Businesses Honored at Entrepreneurial Awards Luncheon

IMG_1039At today’s Small Business Day Awards Luncheon, several local businesses were honored for their successes.

Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Chief of Staff Heidi Brown-McCreery spoke as the keynote speaker.
Brown-McCreery spoke about some of the visions the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity have, such as increasing growth and development.

“We really want to do an asset inventory of all the different geographic areas of Illinois and really make a customized offering for those, continue to build a skilled and competitive workforce, keeping talented employees in Illinois, retaining the talent that come out of our highly acclaimed educational institutions, as well as increasing the speed of growth and development in our business development space.” says Brown-McCreery.

Some of today’s winners include Coral Seitz of River Bank Fabrics & More as Entrepreneur of the Year, Drew Klein of Ride and Run for Young Entrepreneur of the Year, and the Mital family of Creekside Vineyards for the Entrepreneurial Lifetime Achievement award.
