Man Convicted in 2009 Slaying of Woman in Will County

JOLIET, Ill. (AP) — Prosecutors in Will County say a Frankfort Township man has been found guilty by a judge of murder in the 2009 slaying of a woman in his home.

In a news release, Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow said that Judge David Carlson found Brian Trainauskas guilty on Friday. He faces a maximum sentence of 45 years in prison when he returns to court for sentencing on Aug. 13.

During the trial, prosecutors alleged that Trainauskas shot Monica Timar in the back of the head while the two were in his house.

Prosecutors say the woman’s blood was found on the walls of Trainauskas’ home and on the barrel of the shotgun that was used to kill her.
