WOODSTOCK, Ill. (AP) — The former longtime McHenry County coroner has been indicted on charges she failed to bury two fetuses.
Prosecutors say the two fetuses were found in the morgue after Marlene Lantz of McHenry retired in 2012. They are in addition to a fetus found in the coroner’s office in January that caused Lantz to be originally indicted of official misconduct and forgery accusing her of not burying the baby.
The (Crystal Lake) Northwest Herald reports that the newest indictment came Thursday and charges Lentz with two more counts of official misconduct.
The 68-year-old has pleaded not guilty in the original indictment. Her attorney says he hasn’t seen the newer indictment and had no comment.
Lantz worked in the McHenry County coroner’s office for more than three decades.
