Mr. Terry L. Newburgh, 67, of Galesburg, Ill. died 6:19 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Ill.
He was born January 8, 1948 in Galesburg to Albert W. “Jack” and AlNetta O. “Betty” Wooldridge Newburgh. He married Vicki Chivers. He later married Alberta Krantz. She preceded him in death in 2008.
Surviving is his son, Todd (and Wendy) Newburgh of Galesburg, his daughter, Nicole Davis of Galesburg, his fiancé, Karen Sornberger of Knoxville, Ill., his brother, Gary Newburgh of Niantic, Conn. two sisters, Julie White of Galesburg and Jennifer (and Roy) Cehrs of Bethlehem, Ga, three grandchildren, Shabria Campbell, Shania Campbell and Andrew Davis, and three step-grandchildren, Austin McCoy, Brooke McCoy and Brenden McCoy. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Debby Newburgh in 2012.
Terry worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years, first in Galesburg and retired as Postmaster in Altona, Ill. in 2005. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1966 and later from Eureka College, Eureka, Ill. He was a volunteer at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg. He was a member of the Altona Lions Club. He was the past president of Galesburg Jaycees. Terry was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He enjoyed watching the Cardinals win and the Cubs lose. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family and watching college football.
Memorial service will be 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Cremation will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
