Illinois ‘Glass House’ for Sale for $619,000

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. (AP) – A “glass house” designed by a student of noted architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in Olympia Fields is for sale.
The “House on a Bluff” designed by H.P. Davis “Deever” Rockwell in Olympia Fields is up for $619,000, according to the (Tinley Park) Daily Southtown.

The 3,600-square-foot home expands on Mies van der Rohe’s world-famous “Farnsworth House” in Plano, 65 miles west.
Homeowner Kim Valles calls the home built in 1964 “an 11. It’s a wonderful experience every day.”

Valles and her husband bought the house for $739,000 in 2006 from Rockwell. They are relocating and say the price is owing to a slipped housing market but is also set “aggressively” to attract multiple offers.
Olympia Fields is 30 miles south of Chicago.
