Tracy served in the Illinois House of Representatives from July 2006 to January 2015.  She ran for the position of Lieutenant Governor with Senator Kirk Dillard last year, but lost the Republican nomination in the primaries to Governor Bruce Rauner and Lieutenant Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti.

Tracy told the Quincy Herald-Whig that she will not miss a beat from her time off these past few months because she is familiar with the issues already.

Tracy would represent the 47th district, which is geographically the largest state Senate district in Illinois, which encompasses Henderson down to Adams county along the Mississippi river and east through parts of Fulton and Mason counties, including some ares of Knox county.
