Mrs. Inez Powell. 75, of Galesburg died at 4:05 pm Sunday, June 28, 2015 in Heartland Health Care Center.
She was born November 8, 1939 in Bearden, Arkansas the daughter of Walter and Mary Ann Harris Lambert. She married Porter Powell.
She is survived by her son, Anthony Powell of Minnesota; three daughters, Keisha and Stephanie Powell both of Davenport, Iowa and Debra Powell of Galesburg; her brother, Harvey Henry of Chicago, Illinois; ten grandchildren, Myron and Gara Powell, Keyonna and Ricky Lesure and Grayling Churn all of Davenport, Iowa, Sasha and Mercades Powell both of Minneapolis, Anthony Nathanial Powell, Jr. of Texas, Travaun Whittaker of Chicago and Keion Whittaker of Galesburg, a host of great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, JoAnn Tyler.
She first worked in housekeeping for Helen and Meads Retirement Home and later for Knox College. She then worked for Admiral/Maytag Corporation. She graduated from Galesburg High School. She was a member of the Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her church, her family and enjoyed cleaning.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 1:00 pm Monday, July 6, 2015 at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Toby Carlos will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in San Francisco, California. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
