Knox County to Spruce Up Courthouse

Last night at the Knox County Building Committee, committee members discussed improving the exterior of the Knox County Courthouse.Knox County Sheriff  David Clague attended the meeting and told committee members that he has been working on the lawn outside the courthouse and noticed several people stopping by to admire the building.

Clague suggested to the committee that the east end by the Veterans plaque could use some landscaping since people are traveling to see the courthouse.

“On the East side, there’s a long plaque there that basically recognizes all Veterans of all the wars and right now it’s nothing but just weeds growing up around it and dead grass growing up against the base,” says Clague. “I just think we need, if people are traveling great distances to see this building, I would like to see the exterior taken care of.”

The committee talked about possibly gathering donations and making it a community event to beautify the grounds.

The committee also discussed the need for replacing the stairs on all sides of the courthouse and covering the duct work on the 2nd and 3rd floor court rooms.
