Galesburg Couple Returns to Court on Drug Charges, Man Pleads Not Guilty

knox county courthouseA Galesburg couple arrested for cannabis related crimes re-appeared in Knox County Court this morning. 60-year old Thomas Liebetrau and his wife 53-year old Nora Liebetrau were both apprehended this past June by Galesburg Police, as well as other narcotics and enforcement authorities.

Both appeared in front of Judge Scott Shipplett today, who allowed a dismissal of Nora’s case, with a possibility of re-instatement as lab results are received.

Law enforcement seized approximately four pounds of cannabis, and $5,000 cash when they arrested the couple at their Hackberry Road home.

Both of the Liebetrau’s appeared today with their respective attorney’s. Each faced two charges of unlawful possession with intent to deliver–class two and class three felonies, as well as two charges of accountability of unlawful possession with the same class assignment. Class two felonies can carry a sentence of seven years in prison. Thomas Liebetrau will now see a jury trial. He plead not guilty to all charges at today’s arraignment.

Mr. Liebetrau will meet for a pre-trial conference October 5th, and will re-appear sometime between October 19th and 30th depending on an available opening.
