Knox County Fair Kicks Off Today

7-20-14 Knox County FairToday marks the first day of the Knox County Fair which will last all week through Saturday.

Knox County Fair Board President Tom Collopy says the recent rain shouldn’t affect the fair and the ground should be fine.

Board Member Darcy Thorp tells Galesburg’s Morning News on WGIL that new additions are expected this year with pony rides, zebras, and performances by Rodney Morss.

“We’re adding more things than we have ever had,” says Thorp. “We’ve got pony rides, and zebras coming out–longhorn steers–all kinds of fun things. The family pavilion which is free. We’ve got little things going on like Rodney Morss. He is amazing and will be there Saturday from one to three.”

Tomorrow there will be a baked goods auction and on Thursday at 5 p.m. there will be a boxing demonstration by Carlos Duncan.

Throughout the week there will be various musical performances, carnival rides, the A & M petting zoo and displays of antique tractors and new farming equipment.

On the Grandstand Schedule, visitors can see the harness race today as well as the Knox County Chaos Monster Truck Jam.

Tomorrow is the stock car race at 7 p.m. and on Saturday the demolition derby will be held at 6 p.m.
