Taste of Galesburg to Bring New Flavor Next Thursday

7-24-14 Taste of GalesburgFood lovers and families alike are expected to unite next week for buffet of local cuisine.

The 29th Annual Taste of Galesburg will take place next Thursday on Simmons Street, between Seminary and Kellogg.

More than 22 food vendors will line the streets with cuisine ranging from BBQ to Fish Tacos.

That’s according to event organizer Sue Dickinson, who says a multitude of areas will have beer on tap as well. Dickinson tells Galesburg’s Evening News on WGIL, that a special vehicle will serve the refreshment this year.

“It’s an airstream mobile home that has been converted into a beer wagon,” says Dickinson. “It has tappers, it has a window, it has a TV–it’s got a little bit of everything. This is brand new, it just started in June. We are one of the first to be able to get this.”

Dickinson also says the Taste visitors will be able to carry beer outside of the beer garden area this year, thanks to a slightly different festival license.

A number of other activities are planned for kids specifically. Bungee basketball will be new this year. A charity raffle will take place as well, with all of the proceeds benefiting the Altrusa Club.

Gates will be open from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $5. Children under 12 get in free.
