At approximately 7:58 a.m. this morning, Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a collision in rural Geneseo.According to a press release, the collision involved heavy equipment and a train.
The Iowa Interstate Railroad was traveling westbound at the 1300 East crossing near 2100 North. A Caterpillar Pan Scraper, operated by 40 year-old Joshua Pierce was traveling southbound through the crossing when the two collided.
Pierce was transported to Genesis Hospital by Geneseo Ambulance, though no details of his condition have been released.
Geneseo Police and Fire Departments assisted the Sheriff’s Office on the scene. Currently the accident is still undergoing investigation.
