The Galesburg City Council will reconvene tonight to discuss video gaming and available liquor licenses.
The discussion will surround regulating the amount of licenses available for gambling parlors in the area.
Currently, there are five parlors in Galesburg. Council members could decide to limit the amount to five for businesses who make more than half of their sales from gambling.
A total of three proposals are on the agenda tonight for first read.
City council will also view a resolution that stems from the passage of the city wide utility tax two weeks ago. The tax will begin taxing gas at rate of five percent and electric between four and six percent by January. If passed, the measure would essentially ensure money from that tax would go toward fixing the estimated $2.35 Million in deferred infrastructure needs, instead of being used anywhere else.
Funds will be used to fix various city streets around town, which will be approved on a project by project basis. Council meets tonight in City Hall at 6:30 p.m.
