Archaeologists to Survey Cook County Forest Preserves

CHICAGO (AP) – Archaeologists and field technicians are spot-checking more than a thousand acres of Cook County forest preserves this year to learn about the people who lived on the land thousands of years ago.

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ill. (AP) – A bipartisan panel of state lawmakers will convene deep in southern Illinois to review Gov. Bruce Rauner’s cost-cutting proposal to shut down a minimum security prison camp near the Shawnee National Forest.
