CHICAGO (AP) — Service has been restored to a branch of the Chicago Transit Authority Green Line that saw the derailment of a four-car elevated train.
CTA officials say no one was injured in the Wednesday afternoon derailment on Chicago’s South Side. Officials said fire department personnel responding at the scene evacuated 78 passengers, including two in wheelchairs.
The derailment occurred on a curve near a rail yard.
Service was suspended at the two stations located to the east of the derailment. Service on the Green Line’s Englewood branch was not affected.
The CTA provided shuttle buses to ferry commuters between the closed stations.
