SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) –A federal judge has set a videoconference for next week to discuss a possible leak of sealed court documents related to former U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock.
U.S. District Judge Sue Myerscough scheduled the meeting for Tuesday. Government prosecutors had alerted her about media reports published Aug. 10 that they said appeared to be based on documents that weren’t public until Aug. 11.
Prosecutors didn’t name any news organizations. They told the judge in a court filing that their side didn’t provide any documents to the news media.
Mark Hubbard, a spokesman for Schock’s legal team, told the Chicago Sun-Times they didn’t leak any documents either.
Federal prosecutors are investigating Schock’s use of taxpayer and campaign money. He resigned in March. A grand jury in Springfield has been hearing testimony from former members of Schock’s staff.
