CHICAGO (AP) –Get Covered Illinois has lost its director less than three months ahead of the annual enrollment period under President Barack Obama’s health care law.
Illinois Department of Insurance spokeswoman Alissandra Calderon says Karin Zosel’s last day was Aug. 7. Calderon says the department is “seeking a new leader” for the insurance exchange and that Zosel’s leadership “has been instrumental.”
Zosel has returned to MacMurray College in Jacksonville where she worked before Gov. Bruce Rauner appointed her in March. The school’s website says Zosel started as MacMurray’s vice president for institutional advancement Wednesday.
Last month, Rauner eliminated 15 staff positions from Get Covered Illinois and made it a division of the Department of Insurance.
The open enrollment period for health insurance coverage begins Nov. 1 and runs through Jan. 31, 2016.
