URBANA, Ill. (AP) — University of Illinois President Timothy Killeen has named Barbara J. Wilson, dean of the school’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, as interim chancellor.
The university said in a news release Wednesday that a trustees committee is expected to vote to appoint her later Wednesday.
Wilson would take over for Phyllis Wise, whose resignation is official Wednesday. The committee also is to decide whether to accept an agreement that would pay Wise a $400,000 bonus.
Wise said last week that she would resign amid allegations of athlete mistreatment and a lawsuit about the decision to rescind a professor’s job offer.
Then on Friday, the university said Wise and other administrators used private email accounts to discuss key matters and avoid public scrutiny.
