SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) – Military veterans get free entrance to the Illinois State Fair on Sunday for a day of events honoring those who’ve served in the armed forces.
The official program begins at noon and includes recognition of the Illinois veteran of the year.
The Helping Our Hometown Heroes Benefits Fair will run from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and include information, services and activities for veterans and family members.
The Illinois Fallen Heroes Traveling Memorial Wall will be on display.
There will also be music, including a performance by a brass quintet from the Illinois Army National Guard’s 144th Army Band.
